About Us...
"The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."
Psalms 12:6 & 7
For 180 years, First Baptist Church has been a testament of God's grace, faithfulness, and blessings. We give God the praise for all He has done in and through our church. Since 1839, First Baptist Church has been through many trials, but God has been faithful.

First Baptist Church has been through fires, two major depressions, burglaries, and war. But through it all, God has been faithful. We have seen souls saved, people baptized, men going into the ministry, men and women going to the mission field, and men, women and children taught to faithfully serve their Lord. As members, we can all say, "To God Be the Glory!"

Our Objective:
We believe that First Baptist Church is here to carry on the Lord's work. The church is His church and it is here for His cause and His glory. We have the obligation to faithfully preach the Word of God. We have the privilege of telling others about our wonderful Savior. We have the opportunity to help other believers in their Christian lives. We have the responsibility to carry out the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and Believer's Baptism. It is a wonderful thing to be given the opportunity to be a part of His work.

Our Beliefs:
The Scriptures:
*We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inherent, verbally, plenary, inspired Word of God.
*We believe that God has promised to preserve His Word and that He has.
*We believe that the King James Version is accurate and is the only English text we accept and use.
*The Bible is our sole authority.

(II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:21; Matthew 5:18)

The Trinity:
*We believe in one living and true God who exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the
   Holy Spirit.
*We believe that all three are one and that they are all equal and eternal.

(John 14:20; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 1:8-10; Acts 5: 3, 4)

The Person of Christ:
*We believe that Christ is the Son of God. We believe that He is God. We believe that He was born of a virgin.
*We believe that he came to this world and became a man and yet remained God.
*He was sinless in His life. He died on a cross for the sins of the world. He defeated death and rose from the
*We believe that He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father on His throne as our Great High Priest.

(Luke 1:35; Galatians 4:4-5; I Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 9:24; I Peter 2:24; I John 2:1-2)

The Fall of Man:
*We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin in the Garden of Eden. We believe that in
  Adam all are sinners.
*We believe that as sinners we are all under condemnation and that without Christ we are
destined to an eternity in the Lake of Fire.

(Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:18; Romans 3:10, Romans 5:12; Revelation 20:15)

The Salvation of Man:
*We believe that man is in need of salvation as a sinner.
*We believe that a sacrifice had to be paid in order for man to have forgiveness of sins. We believe that Jesus died
on the cross and shed His blood to pay that sacrifice. We are saved by receiving forgiveness of sins through
   Jesus Christ.
*Salvation is by grace through faith. Salvation comes by trusting in Christ as Savior.
*We believe that when an individual receives Christ as Savior, he becomes a child of God and receives an eternity
   in heaven.
*We believe that this salvation is eternal and secure in the hands of God

(Romans 3:24; Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 1:7; John 3:16; Hebrews 9:22; Acts 4:12; John 14:1-6; John 10:28-29; I John 5:13)

The Return of Christ:
*We believe that one day Christ will return to receive His Bride--the Church.
*We believe that the Rapture can occur at any moment and at that time the believer shall be caught up to
meet the Lord in the air.
*We believe that the Rapture is pretribulational and premillennial.
*We believe that there will then be a seven year tribulation and at the end of it Christ will return with His
saints to establish a thousand year reign on the earth.

(I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:1-6)

*Being saved means that you will spend eternity in Heaven. John 3:3 ays, "...Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the kindom of God." Being born again is to be saved, and God wants everyone to be saved.

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23
"And death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." Rev. 20:14
"But God commendeth his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
